Immunoaffinity-enriched extracellular vesicle proteomics for high-grade serous ovarian cancer - A UKOPS nested case-control analysis.
Adding an extracellular vesicle protein signature to standard blood markers improved ovarian cancer detection accuracy in early research.
This nested case-control biomarker study evaluated To determine whether plasma and serum extracellular vesicles (EV) are interchangeable for immunoaffinity-enriched proteomic profiling in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC), and whether an EV protein signature improves diagnostic performance beyond CA-125 for detecting ovarian cancer. The authors report that an extracellular-vesicle-augmented CA-125 model achieved an AUROC of 0,97 in plasma and improved specificity over CA-125 alone in the nested case-control cohort.
